Yesterday (Sunday) was a day of great excitement in this county, growing out of an incident which is reported to have occurred in the county of Green, which is adjoining. Information was rapidly circulated that danger was apprehended on the upper border of this county, which turned out to have no real foundation. I do not like sensation reports, but this has had its utility in showing out the substantial resources of the county, and the true resolution of its citizens to meet the most trying occasion. Men who rarely ever leave their quiet homes, lesped full- armed from the mountains and valleys by scores and hundreds, prepared in heart and hand to face the sternest danger.
