Suspecting that the enemy would cross the Tennessee river, Col. D. C. Kelley's brigade, with a section of Hudson's battery under Lieutenant Walton, was moved to Eastport. On the 10th the enemy moved up the river with two gunboats and three transports loaded with troops. Kelley masked his forces until the enemy landed a brigade lored infantry, and Company G, Second Missouri light artillery, with a company of the Twelfth Missouri cavalry.
