." To the Editors of the Dispatch.--Gentlemen: We observe that in the extracts published in your paper from Northern journals touching the rout of the 21st, no other Cavalry corps seems to figure in their excited imaginations but the famous "Black Horse" Troop of Fauquier. They seem to think that there is no other Cavalry in Virginia except that gallant corps, while it is a notorious fact that many other Troops bore an equally conspicuous part in the events of that auspicious day. No man can do more than justice to the gallantry of the Fauquier Black Horse and their chivalrous Captain; but when Bedford, Hanover, Chesterfield, Amelia, Lynchburg, Loudoun and other counties were equally represented in the magnificent cavalry charge which crowned our victory at Stone Bridge, we are sure that the magnanimity of our brothers-in-arms of the Fauquier Troop would indignantly repel the monopoly of honor which the amusing blunders of our Northern "brethren" ascribe to them. Horseman.
