Yield of gold in Australia. --From 1851 to 1859, inclusive, the yield of the Victoria gold fields, Australia, amounted to £87,045,000. The annual reports showed a diminution in the yield from 1856, although the number of gold-seekers has been on the increase, and the use of steam engines and other machinery has been introduced on an enormous scale.
