Death of Sir William Don. --It is our painful task to announce the untimely death of Sir William Don, Bart, who expired at Webb's Hotel, shortly after two o'clock yesterday morning. Sir William left Melbourne in very bad health on a professional visit to Tasmania, in the hope of benefiting by the change of climate. During his stay in Hobart Town he has been prevented by debility from taking any leading part in theatrical business, although he sustained several characters with great effect. In the burlesque of "Kenilworth," the part of Queen Elizabeth was assigned to him, and his reluctance to disappoint the public induced him to appear at the first representation of this place on Saturday night last, although, as he stated to his audience, he had to drag himself, from his bed to do so.
