On Tuesday, the Union State Convention of Tennessee met in the capitol at Nashville, and organized by electing the Hon. Samuel R. Rodgers, of Knox county, president. Messrs. Mercer, Myers and Cone were chosen vice-presidents. The Missouri State Convention, on the 11th, passed the following ordinance by a vote of sixty to four: "Be it ordained by the people of the State of Missouri, in convention assembled, that hereafter in this State there shall be neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except in punishment of crime, whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, and all persons held to service or labor as slaves are hereby declared free.
