Appointment of Attorney General. The Confederate Senate on Saturday last confirmed the nomination of Hon. George Davis, of North Carolina, as Attorney General of the Confederate States, in place of Hon. Thomas H. Watts, recently elected Governor of Alabama. Mr. Davis is a Senator in the present Congress, and is said to be a man of great legal ability.
Runaway--$300 reward. --On the 4th instant, a large, dark skin Woman, named Margaret, between 30 and 35 years of age. She had on a green dress when she left. She may be endeavoring to make her way to North Carolina or Tennessee. I will pay the above reward if caught in Virginia, or $500 if caught out of the State and put in S. R. Sale of negroes in North Carolina. --At a recent sale of slaves in Franklin county, N. C., by Dr. G. M. Cooley, administrator, the following prices were obtained on a credit of nine months: Charlotte, aged 44 years, $1,375; Henry, aged 40 years, $3,000; Helen, aged 16 years, $3,700; Fanny, aged 14 years, $3,700; Gordon, aged 9 years, $3,000; Elijah, aged 28 years, $3,457; Daniel, aged 24 years, $6,000; Warren, aged 24 years, $6,450; Dick, aged 20 years, $6,450--aggregate $39,132 for nine, or an average of $4,348 each.
100 dollars reward. --Ranaway from my store, on the 28th ult., my servant boy, Plummer. I purchased him of Capt David N Walker, of Richmond, about three weeks ago. Said boy is about 21 or 22 years old, 5 feet 9 inches high, light gingerbread color. Had on when he left dark pants and a light blue military overcoat.
