Hon. Charles Francis Adams, a member of the last Congress from Massachusetts, and a son of John Quincy Adams, is nominated for England.
Hon. Wm. L. Dayton, of New Jersey, is nominated for the French Mission.
Mr. Dayton served a term in the United States Senate, and was a candidate for Vice President on the Fremont ticket in 1856. Hon. George P. Marsh, of Vermont, gets the Sardinian Mission, which was so strongly demanded by Carl Schurz.
Mr. Marsh served one term in the House of Representatives, and was appointed Resident Minister to Turkey by President Taylor in 1849.
He is more eminent as a scholar and author than as a politician.
