Relief for Virginia exiles.
The exiles from Northwestern Virginia who have been sent from their homes into our lines by the Federal commanders for their loyalty to the Confederacy are arriving in Staunton, and the citizens of that place are generously making preparations for them.
There will be an aggregate of from 1,200 to 1,500, principally women and children, sent throughout, and of course the liberal citizens of that little town cannot provide for so large a number without aid. It is earnestly to be hoped that the people of Richmond, and other portions of the State, will assist them in bearing the burden.
Those who are to be relieved are the wives and children of Virginia soldiers now in the field.
Contributions of money may be sent to John Wayt, teller of the Central Bank, Staunton, who is the treasurer of the fund being raised by the citizens of that noble little town.
