The aquarium of the Paris Exposition was a remarkable success, and has given rise to much more ambitious structures. The aquarium of Brighton, England, for instance, occupies ground 715 feet in length, with an average width of a hundred feet. The aquarium proper is divided into three corridors. The first is divided again into nineteen bays, which are roofed over with bricks, groined vaulr to impel the carriage. In this he differed from Papin and Medhurst, who proposed a plenum in the rear, and not a vacuum in the advance.
