The Richmond Examiner published The Constitution of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the Confederate States of America, as proposed by the General Convention of that Church held at Columbia, South Carolina.--(Doc. 161.) The privateer schooner Neva, from China, was seized at San Francisco, Cal., by Captain Pease, of revenue cutter Mary.--N. Y. Tribune, Nov. 16. Lieutenant J. H. Rigby, of the Gist Artillery, detailed with twenty men, by Brigadier-General Lockwood to proceed to Wilmington and New Castle, Md., with a view of securing a quantity of arms then in possession of secessionists in those places, promptly obeyed the order, and seized two fine brass six-pounders in the former city, and one piece of the same calibre, at New Castle. In addition, he secured one hundred United States muskets. These arms were all removed under charge of the detachment to Salisbury, where the main body of the forces recently sent to the eastern shore of Maryland were stationed.--Baltimore

His father was in the same action on board the Sabine. Major-General H. W. Halleck, U. S. A., assumed command of the department of the Missouri, Major-General Hunter having been assigned to the Department of Kansas. Gen. Halleck issued an order establishing his Headquarters at St. Louis. This morning, about ten o'clock, Company A, of the First Delaware regiment, left Camp Hamilton, near Fortress Monroe, on a scouting expedition. The corps was under command of Captain Watson, of Wilmington. They crossed Hampton Creek, and when about one and a half miles beyond the outer pickets encountered a considerable body of rebel cavalry, who were accompanied by two field-howitzers, brass rifled pieces, and the first intimation the Delawarians had of the enemy's position on near approach, was the whistling of a projectile through the woods and underbrush. Captain Watson then threw up a temporary defence of brushwood and earth, after advancing to an eligible position, and sent back for

The Confederate Secretary of the Treasury, in his correspondence with the Tennessee delegation in Congress, stated the inability of the Confederate Government to settle the sums expended by Tennessee in behalf of the war. In the rebel Congress at Richmond, Va., Messrs. Thomas and Burnett, of Kentucky, appeared, qualified, and took their seats.--General Stuart's report of the battle of Dranesville was ordered to be printed.--Richmond Dispatch, Dec. 31. A cutter, under command of Acting-Master Alick Allen, and a gig, under command of Acting-Master Henry L. Sturges, were sent from the U. S. steamer Mount Vernon, to-night, to destroy a lightship used by the rebels off Wilmington, N. C. The expedition found the vessel deserted, though pierced with guns, and almost prepared for harbor defence. She was burnt to the water's edge by the National troops, who escaped the fire opened on them by a rebel fort.--(Doc. 243.)

P., and from Havana, December 1, was brought into New York by Prize-master Rhoades and five men from the gunboat Fernandina. She had a cargo of eighteen bags of coffee, and a quantity of quinine and other medicines. She was taken December 25th, off Cape Fear, by the gunboat Fernandina, while attempting to run the blockade at Wilmington, N. C., and ordered to New York. She was formerly a Charleston pilot-boat.--Baltimore American, January 7. The Richmond Dispatch, of this date, says: The fortification of Richmond, Va., on the Manchester side of James River, is progressing at a very satisfactory rate, under the capable superintendence of Mr. William A. Pegram, of the confederate navy, ran the blockade of Beaufort, North-Carolina, and reached the town this morning in safety.--(Doc. 68.) The United States transport steamer Mississippi, having on board Major-General B. F. Butler and fourteen hundred troops, ran aground on Frying-pan Shoals, off Wilmington, N. C., while on her way from Boston, Mass., to Ship Island, in the Gulf of Mexico. Her situation being discovered by Commander O. S. Glisson, U. S.N., he immediately went to her assistance with the steamer Mount Vernon; and after laboring in vain for many hours, during which about three hundred troops were transported to the Mount Vernon, the Mississippi was finally got off at about seven o'clock in the evening. The troops were then transferred back to the Mississippi, and every man saved.

Let us, then, continue to show to the world that subjugation is simply impossible, and the war will speedily end without the intervention of Europe. But we predict that our recognition as a government will shortly be announced. Yesterday the National steamer Mount Vernon captured the British schooner British Queen--which was attempting to run the blockade of Wilmington, N. C. She was sent with a prize crew to Philadelphia. Gen. Curtis, at Camp Halleck, in Arkansas, in reply to a private communication from a citizen of that State, relative to the subordination of the National troops of his army, issued an address to the people of the South-west, in which he asserts that the legitimate object of war is peace, that peaceable persons shall be protected, and advises those in arms against the Government to disband and return to their proper employments, assu
defiles. The movement was a most important one, frustrating a design to accomplish a victory by the destruction of a much-dreaded command, to revive the drooping feelings of the rebels in Virginia. The calls were beaten in the evening, and the campfires left burning as usual, after the command marched. One of the Union scouts was killed, and three of the rebels were taken prisoners.--Philadelphia Inquirer. The schooner Kate, of Nassau, N. P., attempted to run the blockade at Wilmington, N. C., when she was pursued. The rebels, finding they could not save their vessel, ran her aground and set fire to her. A boat's crew from the steamer Mount Vernon extinguished the fire on board of her, before it had burned long, or done much damage. Her cargo was examined, and found to consist of four hundred and fifty sacks of salt, consigned by Addersly & Co., of Nassau, N. P., to John P. Frazer & Co., of Charleston, S. C., or Wright & Co., of St. John's, N. B. After repeated efforts to

The object of the reconnoissance having been accomplished, the companies reembarked and returned to the White House.--N. Y. Times, May 20. The gunboat Penobscot, Captain Clitch, opened fire on the shore batteries at Newlet Inlet, near Wilmington, N. C. The attack brought out the position and power of the guns and batteries, and this being all that was wanted, the gunboat soon ceased to fire.--National Intelligencer. The advance-guard of he Army of the Potomac reached the Chickahominy River at Bottom's Bridge, about fifteen miles from Richmond. The rebels destroyed the bridge, and the march of the Union troops was obstructed.--McClellan's Despatch.
the field.--(Doc. 16.) Six men of the First Missouri cavalry, under command of Lieut. Pruette, in advance of a foraging party on the northern road from Searcy, Arkansas, were fired upon by about forty rebels, concealed in the adjoining bush, mortally wounding two or three of their number. The foraging party coming up, succeeded in killing four of the rebels and taking some prisoners.--St. Louis Democrat. The steamer Gordon, (Nassau,) whilst attempting to run the blockade of Wilmington, N. C., was captured by the gunboats State of Georgia and Victoria.--The bombardment of Fort Pillow on the Mississippi was resumed after nearly a week of quiet on the part of the Union troops.--Baltimore American, June 3. A fight took place near Corinth, Miss., between a force of Union troops under the command of Col.
