A thrilling night incident. --The Olean (N. Y) Advertiser closes a description of the recent freshet in that region by the following thrilling incident: "We learn that a whole family living near Cuba had a narrow escape from drowning on Friday night. The floods came, surrounded their dwelling, and fearing the house would be carried away, the father resolved to make an effort to save his wife and children. He seized the youngest, a girl of four years, and bid the eldest, then sick with the diphtheria, to follow. It was very dark, but he waded to the nearest tree and put the children among the branches. Returning he brought his wife and placed her with the children, and fearing the tree might not stand any greater weight, he tied himself to the trunk, where he was found next morning up to his armpits in water. The whole family were finally rescued. A night of terror certainly to these unfortunates. The dwelling was swept away by the flood.
