The reported 30,000 Yankees at Newport News is not at all likely: Passengers represent that a negro regiment is now garrisoning Craney Island, and that there are no Yankee soldiers in the vicinity of Suffolk, except one detachment at Wright's Mill and another at Bernard's Mill.
