Reported cavalry fight. Passengers who came to the city on the Central train, on Saturday afternoon, brought a report that General Stuart had another severe cavalry fight with the Yankees on Tuesday or Friday in the neighborhood of Salem, in Fauquier. That there has been an engagement we have no doubt, but the particulars of it, or the locality where it occurred, have not reached us in a definite form. The first reports stated that the fight commenced on Thursday afternoon, continued until night, and was renewed on Friday morning--that on Thursday we captured about 600 prisoners, but the enemy receiving heavy reinforcements during the night, renewed the attack the next morning, recapturing 400 of the prisoners. Our men were subsequently reinforced and the enemy driven back.
