A petition was presented from citizens of Fairfax, asking the Legislature to endeavor to save the Union. A resolution was offered to take the sense of the people of Henrico in reference to authorizing the County Court to effect a loan to purchase arms. In the House, a bill was reported to appropriate one million of dollars for the defence of the Commonwealth. Mr. Barbour, from the Committee on Federal Relations, presented two resolutions, which, together with a substitute offered by Mr. Tomlin, (consisting of a preamble and series of resolutions,) were ordered to be printed. A resolution was introduced to provide that no person shall be elected or appointed a Bank director who is not a stockholder. A remonstrance of citizens of Henrico was presented against the extension of the corporation limits.
