Mr. Foote, of Tenn., offered a resolution that, in the judgment of this House, it is eminently desirable, in order to secure the comfortable subsistence of our Valliant armies, and to allay existing discontents known to exist in certain rural districts, that the present Commissary General should be removed, and a suitable successor appointed in his place. Mr. Kenan, of Ga., moved to lay the resolution on the table, and on this motion the ayes and noes were had, and resulted — ayes 46, noes 20. Mr. Chilton, of Ala., offered a resolution that the Committee on Claims inquire whether provision should not be made by law for auditing and paying account
