Beauregard's headquarters, taking personal observations of matters and things in that vicinity.--The newspapers at the North, as well as at the South, seem to be entirely in the dark as to the object of the Prince's visit at this time. Some suppose that he bears propositions for friendly interference, by the French Emperor, in the strife on this continent; but the probability is that we shall be enlightened in a few days. Apropos of the Prince, a telegraphic dispatch in the Baltimore papers of Thursday, from the " Associated Press" of Washington, says "Prince Napoleon left Washington yesterday to visit Mound Vernon, but not reaching the French Minister's residence up to midnight, a report prevailed that he had been captured by the Secessionists!" It appears, however, that he afterwards returned, having stopped to dine with the French Secretary of Legation. It is supposed that the Prince will visit Richmond, but we have received no definite information upon that point.
