led to the separation, and we sincerely wish our late Commander all the success he merits in the new position to which he has been assigned. Resolved, 3d. That a copy of the proceedings of this meeting be prepared; that an officer be designated by its Chairman to hand them to Gen. Ewell, and that another copy be forwarded to the Richmond Dispatch for publication. Before submitting these resolutions to the meeting, their Chairman paid a just and feeling tribute to the character of our late commander, as a gentleman, kind, courteous, and benevolent; and as an officer, prompt, ready, and efficient. The resolutions were then unanimously adopted. The Chairman then, in accordance with the 3d resolution, requested the Chairman of the Committee to prepare the copies, as indicated, and appointed Captain. Walter H. Weems to communicate with Gen.
