Stealing time.
--James Humphreys and Daniel Murphy were arrested and caged by the police yesterday, on the charge of stealing two silver watches, worth $26, from Adam, slave of John E. Wadsworth.
They did not "take time by the forelock," but seized his indicators possessed by the unfortunate Adam, for which unlawful act the Mayor proposes to make them account this morning.
Stealing time.
--Dan. Murphy and James Hampton were arraigned for the second time before the Mayor yesterday morning for unlawfully possessing themselves of two silver watches belonging to Adam, slave of John E. Wadsworth.
The circumstances connected with the affair were not developed, the witnesses not being present.
The parties were sent to jail.
On Monday the Reporter received a note, reading as follows:
"As there are no less than four persons of the name of Daniel Murphy in the city of Richmond, please do the others justice by stating which one of the four was charged the other day with stealing watches from a negro.
The piece published being designed for the disgrace of the party and the information of the public, will you be kind enough to accomplish that end by giving some description of the person further than the mere name?

--Among others who arrived at the Spotswood House yesterday, were J. R. Bryan, Gloucester; H. Mitchell, John Hamilton, Maryland; Alexander Dudley, Virginia; Col. W. M. Levy, Second Louisiana; Dr. P. H. Carnell, Louisiana.
. The Mayor yesterday remanded James Smith and Elijah Berr, for fighting in the street; Edward Sullivan charged with being implicated in the abduction of two watches belonging to John E. Wadsworth, was committed until the 2d of September; Wm. Dannison was committed for drunkenness and racing people about the streets.
