The bread Swindles in New Orleans. --The Picayune, of Wednesday last, says: The new city ordinance about the weight of loaves was published yesterday, and already five bakers have had their bread seized by Commissioners in the First District, for short weight. Commissary Shubert brought this morning from Paydras Market 78 loaves of bread, 48 of which belonged to B. Surigney, 27 to B. Wagner, and 3 to J. Lagarde.--Commissary Sadler seized at the Claiborne Market 154 loaves, 112 of which were baked by Michelle, of the Old Barin, and 42 by Barkhardt. There are many arguments to bring forth pre and con this new city ordinance; but one thing is certain: in present circumstances, more than ever, the bakers are guilty to sell loaves short of weight. There are thousands of people who are now working very hard to get the wherewithal to buy their bread and victuals, and it is but just that they get their quid pro que. The seized loaves will be sent, we suppose, to the Free Market
