But, notwithstanding General Walker's omission, the First Brigade went forward, and the commanding officer and a number of the men actually entered the second line of the rebels, the farthest point reached that day. The roll was called and it was found that 153 of the Nineteenth had been captured and that 1600 men and 67 officers, all told, in the corps were prisoners.
