hs. The following gentlemen were appointed Commissioners to superintend the charter election to be held on Wednesday, the 3d day of April: Monroe Ward.--Thos. M. Jones, Chas. H. Powell, Thos. Boudar, R. G. Cabell and F. J. Smith, Commissioners. Wm. N. Kelly, Conductor.--Election to be held at Lacy's shop. Madison Ward.--Elisha Sheppereon, James H. Grant, G. N. Gwathmey G. W. enced to 39 lashes. John W. Chronister was examined for passing a counterfeit $5 note on Mr. Duval, and sent on. He was bailed in the sum of $300. Adelaide, a slave of Mr. Suttle, charged with setting fire to the dwelling house of Peter B. Law, was tried and acquitted. David, slave of L. T. Chandler, tried for going at large, was discharged on his master paying a fine of ten dollars and the cost of prosecution. James Butler, a free negro, charged with stealing a watch valued at twenty-five dollars, from Jack, slave to Thomas U. Dudley, was ordered 39 lashes. Geo. H. Fitzwilson was appointed Deputy of John M. Francisco, Commissioner of Revenue in Jefferson Ward. Gibson Via was fined $10 and costs for permitting his slave to go at large. Alderman Alexander M. Trabue tendered his resignation as a member of Court, which was accepted. He is going to Texas. John Welsh, free negro, confined in jail, was ordered to be hired out to pay for his support.

New pole put up. --The friends of Southern rights residing in Jefferson Ward, yesterday raised a new and handsome pole, in the stead of the one broken by the wind on Saturday. The Palmetto flag will in future float ninety feet above terra firma.
