Destroyed by fire. --On Monday last the residence of Dr. George M Savage, near the locality known as Savage's Station, on the line of the York River Railroad, about ten miles from Richmond, was destroyed by fire. The residence was occupied, at the time of the disaster, by Mrs. Emily Wathins. The fire was occasioned by the accidental dropping of a live coal by a little negro who was playing with one of Mrs. Watkins's children, in the passage, and so suddenly were the flames communicated that the family barely escaped with their lives and clothing. Dr. Savage, the owner of the place, was for a number of years a magistrate of Heinrich county, and his residence was widely known as the seat of genial hospitality. It was the scene of one of the sanguinary battles around Richmond in July last, and previous to McClellan's "change of base," was pillaged and devastated by the enemy.
