Whipped. --A negro man named Major, slave of Frederick J. Wells, was ordered a whipping yesterday by the Mayor for having a lot of cabbage in his possession about which he could give no satisfactory account. Andrew, the property of Mr. Culver, arrested without a pass, was ordered ten lashes. Squire, the property of Mr. Samuel Sampson, was ordered a whipping by the Mayor. A negro boy belonging to N. G. Pendleton, named George, was whipped for throwing stones in the street and striking one of the fire engines.
