But there is another company I must tell you about, as everybody takes a deep interest in it, evidencing, as it does, the spirit which pervades all ages as well as classes of our community. A few days ago a company was formed at this place, composed of intelligent and interesting little boys, and called the "Culpeper Yellow Jackets." At their first meeting they elected three officers, as follows: Captain, J. James Wharton; 1st Lieutenant, H. Marion Wharton; Orderly Sergeant, J. W. R. Kirk. The others will soon be chosen. A Home Guard was organized at this place some time since, by the Silver Greys of the neighborhood, (Jno. Wharton, captain,) which now acts for local surveillance. Our County Court, at its last meeting, appropriated $10,000 for the purpose of paying the expenses of our volunteers. I believe this meets with the hearty approbation of all our people. Many were in favor of $20,000, which sum will be given wheneve
