Order concerning the local defence troops. The following order from the Adjutant and Inspector General's Office will largely increase the battalion of local defence troops in this city: Adj't & Inspector Gen's Office,Richmond, March 8th, 1864. Special Orders, No. 56.-- XVI. Paragraph XXV., Special Orders No. 165, series of 1863, is hereby extended so as to include all detailed conscripts on duty in Richmond, and all civil employees of the War Department who are not physically disqualified for the performance of military duty in the local organization By command of the Secretary of War. (Official copy) Jno. Withers, Ass't Adj't General. A class not heretofore included in the battalion is reached by this order.
