Miscellaneous. James M. Wood, ex-member of Congress from Maine, died in Boston on the 25th instant. Christmas was an extremely gay day in Washington. The Boston and Cincinnati journals are publishing in full the list of tax-payers, and the amount they pay under the special revenue law. The publication has developed the fact that wealthy men, who spend over six thousand dollars per annum in their household expenses, have no income "over six hundred dollars." The publication creates a great hubbub, but mostly among those who have sinister motives for concealing their wealth. The shoulder straps of the Rear-Admiral, by the present regulations of the navy, are decorated with an anchor in the centre and two stars at either end.--The stripes upon the sleeves are eight in number. The straps for the Vice Admiral will probably be decorated with an anchor and star in the centre, and a star in each end, and the sleeves with nine stripes. The cap front of a Rear Admiral is
