City Council.
--The monthly meeting of the Council was held last evening, the following members being in attendance: Messrs. Saunders, Grattan, Denoon, Haskins, Crutch Wynne, Epps, Scott, Burr, Griffin, Hill, and Glazebrook.
Mr. Grattan, from the Finance Committee read a report in regard to the remission of taxes and fines, closing with the following resolution:
Resolved, That if the persons and firms returned by the Assessor in pursuance of the ordinance passed the 29th day of N the bonds of the South Side Railroad Company owned by the city.
On motion of Mr. Burr, Messrs. Kent, Paine & Co. were authorized to act as auctioneers for the balance of the fiscal year, on the payment of the sum of $100.
On motion of Mr. Wynne, a further appropriation of $3000 was made for the use of the Committee on Arms.
On motion of Mr. Grattan, an appropriation of $1,000 was made for the poor of the city, to be disbursed by the Union Benevolent Society.
