I write this on a piece of paper which fortune has placed in my way, and it may reach you: I have been a prisoner nearly ten months. I have never been treated as a prisoner of war. I am now in a casemate, under military confinement. I am not allowed,r written communication with friends prohibited. Writing material, papers, books, even my razor, has been taken from me. The U. S.
