They took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation
of the children of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which is
between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after
their departing out of the land of Egypt.
The whole congregation
of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in
the wilderness;
and the children of Israel said to them, "We
wish that we had died by the hand of Yahweh in the land of Egypt, when
we sat by the flesh-pots, when we ate our fill of bread, for you have
brought us out into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with
hunger."
Then said Yahweh to Moses, "Behold, I will rain bread from
the sky for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion
every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in my law, or
not.
It shall come to pass on the sixth day, that they shall
prepare that which they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they
gather daily."

and there Israel encamped before the mountain.
Moses went up to
God, and Yahweh called to him out of the mountain, saying, "This is
what you shall tell the house of Jacob, and tell the children of
Israel:
'You have seen what I diSinai, they encamped in the wilderness;
and there Israel encamped before the mountain.
Moses went up to
God, and Yahweh called to him out of the mountain, saying, "This is
what you shall tell the house of Jacob, and tell the children of
Israel:
'You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I
bore you on eagles' wings, and brought you to myself.
Now
therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice, and keep my covenant, then
you shall be my own possession from among all peoples; for all the
earth is mine;
and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests, and a
holy nation.' These are the words which you shall speak to the children
of Israel."
Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and set
before them all these words which Yahweh commanded
