non-commissioned officer and private who has heretofore enlisted, or shall this week enlist, and hereafter be accepted as a part of the quota of Salem under said call, and have been mustered into the service of the United States. On the 25th of November ten thousand dollars were appropriated to encourage recruiting; and it was ordered to pay a bounty of two hundred and twenty-five dollars to each volunteer for three years service, and one hundred dollars to each volunteer for nine months seree hundred thousand nine-months men.
