When the President made his first call for troops, a citizens' meeting was immediately called. It met on the 17th of April, and was large and spirited. Rev. S. S. Ashley, Rev. Joseph Allen, D. D., George C. Davis, Wilder Bush, and Samuel Clarke were appointed to draft resolutions.
