The election is to take place on the 24th December, and the Convention meets on the 7th January.

From Washington.
Washington, Nov. 15.--The sloop-of-war Macedonia is ordered to fit out for the Home Squadron, to replace a vessel whose term has expired.
Senator Hammond has written here to have his personal effects sent to South Carolina.
It is believed he does not intend to return here this winter.
