A Railroad in Africa. --The first African railroad was inaugurated on the 25th June last. It is called the Natal Railway, and connects the capital of the colony, Durban, with Cape Town. The whole enterprise has been successfully carried through by the colonists, no foreign aid having been received, and very important advantages are expected to arise from the sure and rapid communication between the interior and the coast. A train in motion was, of course, an extraordinary novelty for the natives, and many of the Caffres at first tried to measure fleetness with the marvellous iron horse, but they soon had to give up the race.
