Stealing newspapers. --At an early hour yesterday morning, watchman R. E. Boze detected a man named John Kernan in the act of purloining a copy of the Dispatch from Mr. Whitlock's door, took him into custody and conducted him to the station-house. The facts were narrated to the Mayor, who remarked that complaints of newspape to the Mayor, who remarked that complaints of newspaper thefts had become so universal, that he would commit Kernan to jail by way of a warning to others who might be disposed thus to deprive honest citizens of the news of the day. Kernan is not very shrewd in his roguery. He was turned out of jail only two or three weeks ago. to the Mayor, who remarked that complaints of newspaper thefts had become so universal, that he would commit Kernan to jail by way of a warning to others who might be disposed thus to deprive honest citizens of the news of the day.
