Drowning cases. --The Trenton (N. J.) Gazette states that a little girl named Anna Montot, was drowned at Trenton, on Wednesday, by breaking through the ice. The same paper says: On Monday night, at Elizabeth, a large crowd of boys, with a number of girls, had assembled on a pond a short distance west of the Railroad depot, and were busily engaged in the sport of skating, when one of the party discovered an owl sitting on a branch of a tree overhanging the pond. The crowd gathered completely at one point, and under the weight the ice gave way, the entire party of 30 persons, including 5 girls, being suddenly precipitated into the water, which was about 8 feet in depth. The greatest alarm and excitement prevailed, and cries for help arose from the submerged party, which were heard by several who rushed to the spot with lights and succeeded in rescuing all but one lad by the name of Williams, residing in Craneville, who was drowned.
