The Thames too strong for Parliament.
--The London Times calls attention to the fact that the new Parliament Houses of England are in a state of preternatural decay — in fact, fast going to ruin.
The effluvia generated on the banks of the Thames has not only attacked and dispersed the members repeatedly, in spite of all the appliances brought to bear for its abatement, but is rapidly acting upon the walls of that magnificent structure.
The stone employed in their construction was a variety of dolomite, believed to be imperishable.
It is proposed to glaze the walls with silicate of potash, applied in a liquid state.
