Resolved, That while we do not formally instruct our delegate in the State Convention to vote for an Ordinance of immediate Secession, we would suggest to him that it is the earnest desire of this meeting, and, we believe, of a majority of the citizens of the county, that he take such action as will tend to reinvest our State with her full sovereignty. Garland Hanes, Sr., of Henrico, offered the following resolution as a substitute for the minority report, viz: Resolved, That we, citizens of Henrico, are perfectly willing to abide the decision of the State Convention, believing that the Old Dominion has rights in the Union, and that they will protect and defend them. The vote was then taken upon Mr. Haines' resolution, which was defeated by a large majority, and Mr. Redd's minority report was also lost. The majority report of the Committee passed by a large majority, several persons giving their votes against the resolutions.
