Our city press teem with rumors of this kind, and are anxiously perused by our people. A great deal of excitement is expressed to hear the latest news from Charleston, and our papers will be eagerly sought for. The election for the Mayoralty has just closed in Portsmouth, which resulted in the selection of John O'Lawrence, (Union,) of that city, over Geo. W. Grice, (Secessionist.)
