Progress of secession. --The flag of the Southern Confederacy was raised at Mr. Pae's residence on Church Hill, on Saturday last at half-past 4 o'clock. Quite a number of the residents were present to witness so interesting a scene. Dr. Z. S. McGruder being present, was called for, and delivered a speech, which was received with hearty cheers; after which Mr. Pae entertained the audience by repeating several verses of beautiful poetry. The occasion was rendered more interesting by good and cheering music, which animated every hearer. The whole proceedings passed off pleasantly, and the citizens returned to their homes well pleased with the prospects of Virginia's making the eighth star in the Southern Confederacy.
