Burned to death. --A painful accident occurred at the residence of Samuel Redford, on 3d street, between Broad and Marshall, last Saturday night. A negro girl named Agnes, hired of John Sledd, attempted to fill a fluid lamp while the wick was burning, when the fluid in the can ignited and exploded, setting her clothing on fire. Her screams, and those of the ladies in the house, (Mr. Redford was not present,) soon attracted the attention of passers by, and brought them to the scene, when Dr. Thomas, by wrapping his cloak around the burning girl, extinguished the flames, but not until she was burned in the most shocking manner. The bedding and other articles about the house were fired, but were soon extinguished. The girl died of her injuries yesterday morning.
