The Convention. In Convention, yesterday, the President appointed a special committee in conformity with a resolution offered by Mr. Willey, on Monday, to inquire into the expediency of changing the organic law in regard to taxation. The resolution offered by Mr. Holcombe, to go into secret session, was then adopted, and the galleries and privileged seats were cleared and the doors closed. The Convention remained in secret session the rest of the day, taking a recess at 2 o'clock and meeting again at 4 o'clock, P. M.
hird day. Richmond,April 16th, 1861. The Convention was called to order at 10 o'clock A. M. Prayer by the Rev. D. S. Doggett, of the M. E. Church. The President announced the following special committee on the resolution offered by Mr. Willey, of Mongolia, inquiring into the expediency of changing the organic law in regard to taxation, viz: Messrs. Willey, Turner, French, Campbell, Barbour of Jefferson, Taylor, Tredway, Ambler, Marr, Chambliss, Gregory and Brent. The pending quMessrs. The pending question from yesterday being, then, shall the main question be put on the resolution of Mr. Holcombe, of Albemarle, as follows: Resolved, That the Convention will immediately go into secret session, in order to consider the report of the Committee appointed to visit Washington, the main question was ordered, and being put, was decided in the affirmative.
