Philadelphia paper, of Monday morning: There was great excitement in Philadelphia, New York and Boston, in consequence of the military movements South. Great fears were entertained at Chambersburg, Pa., of an attack on that place by troops from Maryland and Virginia. Hundreds of volunteers, including 300 United States troops from Carlisle, were marching to its defense. A large meeting was held in Boston on Sunday, when a regiment was organized by Fletcher Webster. Ex-President Pierce had made a speech at Concord, N. H., in favor of the General Government. At New York the steamers Monticello, Marion, James Adger, Roanoke, Parkersburg, Florida, Alabama and Augusta had been chartered by the Government to transport troops. The residence of Gen.
