Forgery. --Charles Smith was examined before the Mayor yesterday for perpetrating sundry forgeries, and was committed for further examination before the Hustings Court on the following charges: Forging P. T. Moore &Co.'s name to a check for $34.17, payable to Wm. L Seddon; to a check for $21 15, payable to Edmund G. Steane, and to a check for $16.75, payable to Edward E. Wilson; also, for forging J. R. Crenshaw's name to a check for $31.63, payable to Edward P. Hooper. There are sundry other cases of a similar nature pending against the defendant, and prior to the above examination he had been sent on in three or four cases.
