patch.affairs in Chesterfield — organization of military — liberal citizens, &c. Chester, May 7, 1861. We have had quite a lively time here for the past few days, first in organizing a new volunteer corps, drilling the men, and the congregation of the wealth and fashion and beauty of the surrounding country, to make up uniforms for the soldiers. A volunteer company, consisting of sixty men, is now formed, nearly uniformed, and will be ready for the campaign in a few days. Major R. A. Willis has been elected Captain, Parke Poindexter, First Lieutenant, J. S. Snead, Second, and Thomas Burfoot, Third Lieutenant. As another instance of the noble and patriotic spirit displayed by the sons of Virginia in this crisis. I will mention the fact that Messieurs Willis and Poindexter have uniformed the men of this company at their own expense, besides furnishing the men with their board and lodgings at the Hotel free of charge, together with other expenses incident to an underta
