cting as a guard to the arsenal and magazine, and receiving valuable instructions in tactics from the few remaining Cadets. This noble institution is now proving its worth and inestimable importance to the State, in furnishing the best informed officers and instructors to the volunteer force of Virginia. May the time soon come when it will take its proper position as the "West Point" of the Confederate States. Our County Court met to-day, and adjourned to Thursday next, (all of the Justices not having been summoned to attend to-day,) when an appropriation of not less than $25,000 will be made to defray the expenses of our volunteers. The Rockbridge Guards, a Rifle company, was organized last week, with D. P. Curry, Esq., as Captain, in the new Providence neighborhood, and is being rapidly equipped to tender its services to the Governor. The "Stay Law" is by no means popular in this region — it is hoped that the Convention will repeal it as soon as it convenes again.
