Green corn, for table use, has made its appearance in the Savannah (Ga.) markets.
A good example. --We were informed yesterday, says the Savannah (Ga.) Republican of the 1st inst., by a gentleman, that his land-lady sent for him, and told him that some one of her tenants requested her to reduce his rent, to which she acceded; that she sent for him, so as to do with all alike, and would take off $100 from his yearly rent. This generous feeling comes from a widowed lady. We hope that the influence of such magnanimity will not be lost upon those who are better able to act as she has done.

Republican, of the 1st inst., learns from Captain Ficklenburg, of the schooner Ferguson, which arrived last evening from Charleston, that he spoke on Tuesday evening last, off Otter Island, the steamer Reliance, of Savannah, the Captain of which informed him that his engineer was killed on that morning by some portion of the machinery.
