pondence of the Dispatch.] Norfolk, Va., June 19, 1861. Great excitement was caused here yesterday, on the arrival in our city of three supposed spies, accompanied by a body of soldiers. They were immediately carried to head quarters, (Col. Huger,) where a brief examination took place, after which they were committed to jail. One of them, named Williams, was the mate of a sloop recently taken at Old Point, with bacon, lard, butter, &c., mentioned in a previous letter. He says he was tability this man will be discharged, as there is nothing to convict him of the least disloyalty to his State. He is about 19 years of age, of muscular appearance, and is from Smithfield, Va. Happily, while being conveyed to the headquarters of Col. Huger, he met a relative, who speaks of him in the highest terms, and swears that if there was the least tincture about him of disloyalty, he would be the first to shoot him down. it was suspected that rifle cannon was being mounted on the Rocky Island near the Fortress, but not until the firing within the past week was it certainly known. The enemy have one long range rifle cannon, supposed to be the one condemned by General Huger when in the U. S. service It carries a shell twelve inches long, six inches wide, weighing near fifty pounds, and generally filled with musket balls and slugs. A little Federal steamining stands out in Hampton Roads, beyond the reach of "City Guard," of Columbus, Ga. commanded by Capt. Colquitt, of Sewell's Point memory. Mr. Cobb, you know, has tendered a regiment for the service; so also his brother, Thomas R. R. Cobb, of Georgia. Federal troops are continually arriving at Fortress Monroe Butler wants to try his hand next on Norfolk. Our brave soldiers will welcome him. The Beauregard Rifles and Capt.
