Among the officers in Fort Sumter is Lieut Richard K. Meade, Jr., of Petersburg, Va.--He is a West Point graduate, of the class of 1857, and a son of the U. S. Minister to Brazil. Joseph Meredith, a tailor, residing at Murfreesboro. Tennessee, was shot and instantly killed in that place last Friday night. The otherMaj. Anderson, U. S. A., who is a native of Virginia, is stationed at the Fayetteville (N. C.) Arsenal. W. W. English, of Monroe county, Ala., and his three oldest children, were found dead on last Wednesday, at his residence. In the city of Canton, China, there are, on an average, about 5,000 suicides every year.
