The Cotton King.
We have been informed by a highly distinguished gentleman who is a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, that circulate were being addressed in large numbers by the Cotton Brokers of New Orleans, Mobile, &c., to the planters, forbidding them to send to those cities their crops of cotton until the blockade should be raised or was no longer enforced.
Not a bale of this valuable staple will be sent to or received as usual at the great cotton repositories of the South; and should Lincoln's horde make a descent upon the Queen City, they will find the granaries in which have heretofore been stored millions of pounds, empty and barren, and the rich commodity in the private warehouses of its owners, who have resolved, our informant declares, to burn it to ashes, or to throw it into the sea, or make an offering of it to the poor operatives of England, sooner than an iota of it shall fall into the hands of Lincoln's myrmidons.
